There are lots of different kinds of health insurance. Here's what some of them are, and the differences between them.

== HMO ==
HMOs (Health Management Organizations) are normally cheaper plans. They're cheaper because they're "managed organizations" which means that you don't get much, or as much choice, in what doctor or specialist you see.

== PPO ==
PPOs (Preferred Provider Organizations) are generally more expensive plans. They give you more choice in what doctor or specialist you see. This also means that sometimes it's up to you to find a doctor or specialist. Then you'll have to check if they're "in network" for the lowest rate. Sometimes you might still need a referral for them too, depending on the type of doctor or specialist and the coverage you have.
